I recently dyed my hair red and I was wondering if it's ok to use coconut oil to massage my head for hair growth and to also lock in some moisture on my colored hair. Will it fade my red hair color if I use coconut oil like 1-2 times a week? Thank you!

Coconut oil won't make your hair grow faster but the massaging can help stimulate blood flow. Plus the process of washing the oil out can fade the dye. So maybe just use a conditioner for dyed hair if the moisture lock is really important?

The thing about dyed hair is that excessive exposure to water will absolutely ruin it. It will make your hair fade faster the more you wash it, and it's really hard to quickly wash out oils; they tend to want to stay where they are. I have a whole explanation of my colored hair care routine, if that interests you.

I suggest using a hair mask once or twice a week. it would definitely help repair damages from all the bleaching and lock in moisture just like you wanted. coconut oil won't help with hair growth and its too much of a hassle to rinse it off which makes the colour of your hair fade. try not to wash your hair every single day, maybe every other day to allow the natural oils to come through and that would help make your hair grow faster and prevents dry crunchy hair.

The coconut oil itself will not fade the hair unless it's heated up. Hot oil treatments are a known hair dye remover. But washing it is going to fade it, like Hannah said. If you use any oil I'd suggest that you put it on the ends/middle of your hair only and don't saturate it to much. That way you don't have to scrub it off and if any oil residue is left over, you won't have greasy looking hair.
Only do it max once a week. Too much conditioning is actually damaging too the hair.
