It honestly depends on the director. I do a LOT of stage work and it's honestly best to not make an major appearance changes before an audition. Especially because if you get Dorothy the director could want you to cut it different or dye it. If you cut your hair too short they might cut you down in the selection process because they look at talent first then versatility in the appearance of the actor or actress. I've been on ALL side did the stage in both semi professional and school theatre. It would be best to wait until after your audition to do something like this. Then take a picture to your director and ask.

I think you can always use a wig or paint your hair and use extensions. But CUT IT if you really want it cut it! Don't let anything stop you!

If you like the style (and scarlet Johansson) then cut it. my hair is pixie and most directors are cool with that but I use wigs some times.

I know the other are saying things like wigs extensions etc.and doing what you want. I'm all for doing what you want but if you are cutting it to look more like the part it's not a good idea! In the long run you DONT want to have a wig or extensions onstage. I've done it and it sucks. You dear at, it itches... It's a horrific experience!

Ya they almost forced me to do that for Annie but I said no so I'm hoping not to wear a wig but I'm probably not going to get Dorothy so I probably have nothig to worry about.

I had to wear extensions for a dr Seuss inspired musical so they could manipulate it... Horrible. Was not comfortable at ALL! And don't say that! If you want the part and you have the drive then there's nothing stopping you! Make sure to practice your audition song and maybe find a script online and practice some lines so you can get more a feel for the character or ya know; practice by watching and taking notes during the movie! I think you'll have a good chance!
