They will use the IQ machine thing but they will apply the foundation that matches all over for you they've done it for me without charge.

Lol I hear ya. But you're welcome and yea they usually show you what foundations have your match and then you can ask them to apply it. :)

They usually just swatch it onmy cheek/jawline. But I think if you ask, then they'll apply it all over.

I used to work at Sephora so I know they'll use the Color IQ to find the perfect foundation and shade for you, then they'll swatch it to make sure it's the best shade and coverage, & once you find the right one you can ask the consultant to apply the foundation all over or do it yourself (: hope that helps!

@Jacqueline, it's a little machine they hold against your neck and it reads your skintone pretty much. It then pulls up specific shades that would match you in different foundations.

It's a hand held thing that they use on your face on three spots I believe: your jawline, cheeks and forehead. It then matches you to every foundation in the store it's like Star Trek type of crap lol it matched me perfect.

They put it to my cheeks, forehead and jawline, not my neck. :o weird!

I actually do remember them wiping off foundation from my jawline and testing it there too. They for sure didn't do my forehead! Haha 😌

Its a handheld device they use. They take three super up close photos through the device, your neck, your cheek and your forehead. It Determines your undertone and then blends the three photos together to find the perfect shade, then tells the sephora worker (it's an iPad app) what foundations that they sell has shades that match. Then the costumer can state preference of finish, coverage etc.and then the sephora worker has it all in a list, including price, if it's in stock and everything the costumer wants to know.
Though they have to swatch to make sure, sometimes the machine can suggest to shades, like if you're in between one. Then they take the foundations the customer is interested in and swatches them on their face. Usually the cheek to jawline, to see what blends with both the face and neck.
