Another way to have super white teeth is too use hydrogen peroxide as a mouth wash, do this everyday otherwise it can turn back to it color. you will start seeing results in a week or 2. after doing the mouth wash, your going to brush your teeth with tooth paste but add baked soda. you can only do baked soda twice a week. hope this work for you girls, because for me it did (:!

I'm aware that it probably works but I would strongly advise against using hydrogen peroxide for this purpose as it is a harmful and corrosive chemical which would be unwise to ingest.

I really do not recommend that.. That stuff is very very toxic, swallowing some can land you right in the hospital. I seriously don't recommend peroxide to anyone. But, baking soda is okay, you're not supposed to brush it on with a toothbrush though, you can damage you're teeth. I suggest making a paste with it adding luck warm water and applying it to you're teeth with a qtip or tooth brush. You let it sit on you're teeth.

Both those tips are really bad and I don't think people should try it!

Just like Lara said, both of those tips are really bad! They corrode away your teeth's enamel! I really wouldn't try any of them.

Baking soda will eat your teeth, literally it eats the outer layer of the teeth which make teeth move exposed to damage from sugar and acids...

I'm sure they will make your teeth whiter to some extent but they can damage the enamel and unfortunately enamel doesn't grow back. you need to take care of the one you have. And, the more you "scrub" your teeth with gritty stuff like baking soda, the thinner your enamel will get, and underneath it there's dentine (sp?) which is yellow. so not only your teeth will get unhealthy and look yellow - they'll also develop hypersensitivity and they will hurt when you eat or drink hot or cold things.

I agree with the other girls saying that tips like these are not advised. They hurt your enamel and the one about peroxide can literally land someone in the ER or intensive care unit if accidentally swallowed. I would say you shouldn't be giving out this info and you probably shouldn't be doing these tips on yourself!

I'm sure I can speak for everyone else that we don't want to sound mean in any way, but we're posting out of concern and love. Angeline, stop doing that please, you will avoid further damage. <3.

As the other girls said, that's really really bad for your teeth. I would recommend you start using some mouthwash & toothpaste that helps enamel. also go to the dentist to make sure you didn't mess up your teeth. I hope you don't take our comments the wrong way, just trying to help :)

I tried that once and the peroxide got on my gums and burned. I do not advise this. I really dislike all these tips floating around the internet. They are more harmful than beneficial

Yeah I wouldn't continue doing this. I'd also go to the dentist and get an enamel protecting toothpaste. This does way more damage and will cost you a ton more in dentist fees than just buying a 30$ box of professional whitener.

Wow I did not know that o:! thanks girls for the help! appreciate it (:!

Okay..I respectfully disagree with several of my BL beauties. While I wouldn't suggest peroxide as the first line item for teeth whitening, peroxide in the mouth IS NOT deadly. Swallowing is not ideal obviously, but peroxide in the mouth is not a major hazard as this thread is portraying it to be. A lot of time in the medical/dentistry field, peroxide is used for oral debridement; it's considered an antiseptic. The majority of the time, you can find directions for oral use directly on the bottle.

When did peroxide become so toxic and corrosive that it was unsafe for use?!?!? Please enlighten me all. Opinions and preferences are one thing, facts are another.

If a product is so corrosive or toxic, why would it be advisable for use on skin, wounds, etc?

Aug 3, 2014

Bry R.

Well I know for a fact that it coming into contact with skin is bad. Fingers and gums both were burned slightly when coming into contact with it, it tingling and had white spots all over the area. I'm not even sure what it's used for in homes because all it does is burn me so I can't imagine anyone using it for medical reasons.

After doing some research, it still doesn't seem like a super safe product the website even said it was corrosive and harmful. Will it make you deathly ill? No. But I just never liked it. It is now thought to slow healing and lead to scarring because it kills new skin cells. Use it in anyway you want if you wish, though :)

It's not bad for skin though...I can see how it's definitely more harsh on a part/area such as the gums, but your fingers shouldn't have burned just by coming into contact with hydrogen peroxide ( of course I'm speaking of the formulation that is available for purchase over the counter). We use it from time to time in the ER and I'm quite certain the burn unit uses it in conjunction with zinc to help with the debridement of wounds. Surely to god they aren't prescribing us nurses to use a product that further burns the skin! I'll definitely have to check into it if so!

I agree with Tonita, peroxide is found in our toothpaste as are other chemicals that harm the body but there is moderation of those chemicals. I use 1:2, 1 being peroxide and 2 being my mouthwash every night now for about a week and I love it (:. Def a good teeth whitener c:

I've never heard of peroxide being bad for your skin it's for wound care however straight peroxide can irritate your gums and doing peroxide and baking soda on your teeth to often will break down your enamel and once your enamel is gone you can't get it back

Aug 3, 2014

Traci L.

Maybe your meaning peroxide used for bleaching hair which will burn the skin and cause white spots not 3 percent hydrogen peroxide used for medical Care.

Aug 3, 2014

Breeze T.

Ah! That must be it, Traci! 3% hydrogen peroxide is often used on infected wounds. it burns as a sensation but it kills all bacteria. I use it often on cuts and such and it's my favorite disinfectant. it's just not for teeth, that's all.
