It's using either a mask or scrub to remove the dead skin. This process encourages cell renewal & reveals the new fresh skin underneath.

Mix some honey and sugar in a bowl, wet your face and massage it with the honey and sugar and it will exfoliate all the dead skin off, and your skin will look amazing:)

Courtney gave you a good example of a home made scrub. You can also buy scrubs, for exfoliating masks your best bet are higher end brands. Be sure you're only doing it one to two times a week, too much will leave your skin raw, red & sore.
