Anything on my face, I mean anything pimples, cuts, scrapes, I got bit by a dog a few years back and one side of my nose was cut almost separated from the other side, it's now a faint scar thanks to cocoa butter cream. In my experience the lotion is less effective, I started using the cream and in probably 2mos. it looked almost gone, my scar was that bad. You can see it on my profile pics.

If your talking about acne scars exfoliating with AHA or Enzymes , stabilized vitamin c serum and Spf daily of at least 30 will help if the scars are pitted getting micros or chemical peels will help depending on the depth of the pit and if it scaring from some kind of trauma , mederma works well the scars should be healed before application thou.

Maderma works great... my baby had a scar on her stomach from an accidental fall and once it healed it left a ugly scar so I began to apply this twice a day everyday and within weeks I noticed it slowly less noticeable.

It depends on the source of the scars - and how severe or old they are - if they are minor they usually go away after a few months - but if they are really old and depending on the source that should determine what you use to speed up the healing process - traci gave great advice for healing acne scars but if the scars are from another source you may want to look into neosporin or something to that effect.

I have a gash above my eyebrow (I had to have 9 stitches in it) and personally I love it I think it looks super badass, so I never really put too much effort into fading it, but this is what my dermatologist told me to do when I first got the scar:

Massage it twice a day (morning and night)

Make sure to wear sunscreen

Scar-guard - it's like a filmy sheet (that you can buy online or at some drugstores) that you put over the scar to make sure it heals flat and not raised...I'm not sure if that description made sense but yeah you can google the product

Keep the skin moisturized, and GENTLY exfoliate

My dermatologist told me not to use merderma on my scar, just because she said it probably wouldn't help much for my particular scar and it can make your skin somewhat sensitive to light, but that might just be my particular injury and the way my particular scar was, and I know a lot of people have had real success with it :)

Keep in mind that this advice was given to me to heal a scar that had just recently formed, and I don't know how effective it would be for an older scar. You didn't mention how new your scar is so I don't know how helpful this is, but I hope this helps! :)

I used chemical exfoliants to fade mine and applied spf on a daily (still do) to avoid darkening of the scar in question. It took me a solid 6 months to completely fade old acne scars that ran along my jaw line and chin. I relied on AHA serums. Now I use retinol exclusively to keep my skin issue free.
