Hey ladies. Thinking about getting a beauty blender today. Everybody says they are key for a flawless foundation but I've always enjoyed my brushes! I'm also a little paranoid about bacteria and stuff camping out in the sponge... What's your routine with your blender??

I don't have one my self, but I heard that they arnt worth it that the cheap one does the same job as the expensive one. but I personally have tried them since I enjoy my brushs too(:

The real techniques one is 6 dollars and is pretty much the same thing.

I bought one, one of the cheaper ones, and I honestly can not figure out how to use it! Its always to wet or to hard... I gave up and went back to my foundation brush!

I love my beauty blender. I got a cheap one off amazon (think it's the real techniques one). I have 3 of them haha. I can't use a brush or my fingers because of my dry skin but the beauty blender works wonders for me. I'd be lost with out it!

I've heard a lot more people say no than I have heard them say yes.

I own quite a few beauty blenders and their dupes. I personally need them for my foundation routine. Most brushes cause a little microdermabrasion while I apply foundation. A beauty blender gives me a flawless blended look. I'd say give it a go for yourself. Ulta and sephora have great return policies so you could always return it If you hate. If possible I'd suggest picking up the black blender as apposed to the pink, lol it stains less.

I've used both brushes and sponges, including dollar store wedges and the Beauty Blender.
I am going to be brutally honest because I am a big beauty junkie and I won't sit here and over hype something because we aren't all made out of money, and I'm sorry to say this but you will get the same finish with this sponge just like any other dollar store sponge.
The price point of the Beauty Blender is due to the material the sponge is made out of, so it will be softer compared to other sponges. The shape of the Beauty Blender allows you to get into smaller spots on your face which makes it very desirable for those who like to quickly apply make up.
Material, and the shape of the sponge is as good as the beauty blender gets.
The Beauty Blender is still a sponge at the end of the day so you will eventually have to throw it away and purchase another one. It can give a better finish compared to low quality cheap brushes, but compared to a good brush it doesn't really stand next to it. I use Kevyn Aucoins foundation brush and it's like a magic wand.. the minute you apply foundation to your face it's already blended and the Beauty Blender looks unblended next to it and kind of just sits on top of your face. The BB is a ok step up if you're using cheap brushes, but if you ever see to yourself investing in a high quality brush I would just pass.
You do have to wash it after every use, otherwise it gets stained with make up and just looks dirty ontop of a vanity. If you're hygienic about your make up it will irritate you cause it irritated the heck out of me mentally lol.
I do have very dry skin though and I will say my brush works 1000 Xs better any day, but I rather pay good money for a magic wand brush then keep paying for a sponge.

I love it! best foundation product ever. I totally soak it in water and then squeeze it as hard as I can to Get all the water out. again doing it in a towel.

I love the beauty blender. I find it makes my foundation look so natural and it blends everything effortlessly, and to prevent bacteria I wash it with face wash every time I use it.
And as for the dupes I find that they just don't work, they are hard, soak up to much water, feel like memory foam, and make my foundation look blotchy. And I even went out and got some wedge sponges because people said it was the same thing but in reality they are the worst thing I have ever used to apply my makeup. My face just feels like I put water on it and it makes whatever foundation it didn't remove look funny. So personally the beauty blender is worth the splurge, I feel like everyone should at least try it once

I have never tried the actual beauty blender, ans highly doubt I ever will just because $20 is outrageous to me for a sponge. lol. I've tried a lot of the dupes (Soho, studio basics, RT, etc) I do like them immensely. they work great. However, I have seen Alma (I believe) say that the material use for the beauty blender is much much different. They use (again I BELIEVE) the spongey material from the netting of a microphone; in which you sing into, not the actually microphone. lol. She says they're not actually the same and do not perform the same as the drugstore sponges. Like I said, don't quote me, but I'm pretty sure I've seen one of the mods explain that. So hope that helps. To keep mine from gathering nasty bacteria etc.I just wash it after every use and DO NOT store it away when its wet.

I've tried drug store cheap sponges and they're nothing like the Beauty Blender. They are always stiff and don't blend unlike the Beaity Blender if you don't wanna spend the money get the real techniques one.

Renay os right alma has explained the difference many times and I belive her, how can 2 completely different materials act the same I personally havent tried the BB but what alma says makes total sense I've tried dupes but they never work and always get hard

Kitty may I ask how 2 complete different things act the same? You mentioned that the difference is the material and the shape and it amazes me how you say they can act the same, to me its like saying a synthetic hair brush and a natural hair brush work the same for the simple fact that they are brushes but we know that aint true, can you explain why the finish is the same?

Thanks again for more input! Really appreciate it :) good things to think about!

@Laura
You're welcome =)

@Lilli
I and Jacqueline have both mentioned many times that they both apply the same finishes, which is what I am referring to. I did mention that the BB uses different material which is where the price point comes in. Both are sponges and use different materials, but the finish of the Beauty Blender you can achieve with a disposable wedge sponge.

Finishes regarding what powder? Liquid? Cream? Can you explain your self please? So are you telling me that with the BB you need practice and with a dupe you don't? I remember my dupe and that thing harden like a rock, alma has mentioned that the BB dosent do that and its hard for me to comprehend how a dupe that is stiff with no flexibility has the same finish as the BB my dupe left my foundation scratchy and did not blend, does the BB do that too?.... Can i ask u this do u compare ur KA brushes to realtechniques? Why or why not? Whats the difference there both brushes no?

Personally, my dupes were never hard nor did they ever harden! How odd..The one I use a lot is the Studio Basics one and its super soft and bouncy!

I have never liked the wedges so I don't know about those hahah!

Renay I'm not lieing that thing was hard and had no bounce it was a waste of money had no bounce or anything my saggy boobs have more bounce then that shit, kitty is saying dupes ok there are many dupes all made different and of different matterial what is she talking about? You simply can't compare 2 things that are made differently especially if it comes to material, you can't compare a real LV purse to a fake why? Cuz one is cheaply made, isnt made of leather, etc. This goes for anything in life
