Hi I went for an informal interview on Thursday that my friend got me at a department store where she works and the lady who interviewed me told my friend I was 'simple but pretty'... is that a good thing or not? it been really playing on my mind... what do you guys think?

I'm rather fond of simplicity in people. There is great beauty in something free from complication...in more ways than one. In reference to intelligence, simple would imply a lack of intellect, but clearly she is discussing your appearance...hence the "pretty" follow up. She could have been noting anything from your attire to your hair and make-up application. If that was her sole comment, I find it unprofessional to not give a more rounded view of what you impressed upon her. You'd really need to give the statement context to best understand her observation fully.
Ultimately some woman at a Department store will never define you and so I wouldn't stress about it. Instead, try to view it as feedback for bringing your A game from a style standpoint. You are perfectly lovely from what I can see. :)
