I'm not a hair professional but I do know layers add volume to hair.

I have the exact same problem! I like to use volumizing shampoo and then I use a brush and style my hair while I'm blow drying it. I feel like it gives it more volume and makes it look thicker. I'm not a hair stylist or anything but I have the same issue and I feel like that works pretty well :)

So I've got thin, straight Asian hair
Only time I got good volume was cutting my hair short and blunt
Layering can make or break your hair since its thin so be careful
But, it also helps to use a thickening lotion or dry shampoo to give some texture
