So I got the banana powder last week and I have to say, I like it! I was a little worried that I may be too pale and that it might show up yellow on me, since it is a yellow powder, but it didn't, surprisingly! Maybe it's because I have a yellowish undertone to my skin? IDK. Anyway, it works well to set my under eye concealer, but doesn't work as well for me as a highlighter than it would on someone with a darker complexion. I wasn't blown away by it, but I do like it and will definitely use the 3 ounces that I bought :) Maybe next time I will try the Cameo color, that I heard is fitting for someone who has lighter skin. Here's a pic of me wearing it today. I have it under my eyes, on my nose, on the center of my forehead and under my blush line. What do you think?

I can see it...the powder that is.....especially under the eyes. Are you using a fan brush to set it? Definitely try Cameo. I can also see it where you applied below your blush. The all-over application of this particular powder shade on you is making your skin appear flat and without any dimension...if that makes sense.

I used a fan brush to sweep off the access powder after letting it sit for a few minutes. So, do you see yellow? Is it not a good color on me?

I think what Shelley is trying to say is that it looks a bit cakey - but maybe that's the look you were going for? If so then you definitely achieved it :) but the color I think looks fine for your already pale skin tone I don't think it looks yellow to me.

I wasn't going for cakey...I don't know how to avoid that. Any suggestions?

Nope...I wasn't going for cakey. From my vantage point I can visibly see the powder color and where it was applied. I even had my daughter look and she said the same thing. The banana powder in general is a tricky powder to work with. Its a pro mua item that is misunderstood. I have it and if I'm not careful it can look frightening on me real quick. Powder products in general you don't want to overapply or even apply one that is wrong fit for your skintone or type.

If your goal is to have something to set your undereye area I would look at Bobbi Brown setting powders that also double as all-over setting powders. They aren't your typical flesh tone powders either...they play off the undertone of your skin so you are left with a natural finish (undetectable). I used to use it myself but since drifted off to explore other powders but I remember it always doing a great job for me. Another powder worth checking out is the Bobbi Brown Retouching Powders. Have several of these myself...check out the shade #4 Peach. And if you're looking to highlight do not apply powder below the blush line but above it to highlight your checkbone. It will make your cheeks just pop and give you that nice glow. A nice highlighting powder...Kevin Aucoin in candlelight. I think it would look absolutely beautiful on you. Another highlighter worth checking out...Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Luminous. I find Kevin Aucoin's more finely milled than the Hourglass but the power lays in application technique and the tool you use. I hope this was some help. I saw your profile pic and then saw the pics posted and I was like "pretty girl masked in all this powder". Your profile pic you see all the natural dimension to your face and then the pics within your thread is showing the opposite.

It did help. I'm looking for a highlighting powder. I'm testing around with highlighting and contouring and stuff and it's not easy! On my profile pic, all I have on is bronzer because I spent the whole day on a boat and had a nice tan going on. :) Not, so much now! I'll definitely look into those highlighters that you suggested. I think I'll be sending the Ben Nye back.

I love your profile pic Jill!! And to only have bronzer on...flawless!! Yes, its definitely a challenge trying to find the right goodies to highlight and contour with. I have a few horror stories myself...especially with the contouring. And highlighting is an adventure all in its self. Let us know what you pick up. ;)

Thanks for the tips! I definitely don't want to look overdone! Another thing I used that night for the first time was the ELF HD powder. Maybe I put too much. My face did look very white afterwards!

I'm looking on my desktop MAC which has a big screen and I still see that yellow tinge. Are you wearing an additional powder as well? Your eye look is beautiful by the way.??

The two question marks was actually a smiley face icon.

Thanks :) I do have other powder on but under the banana powder... Maybe that's what I'm doing wrong.

Ouch. Sounds like too many powders going on under the eyes. If its white colorless powder like an HD powder...no bueno.

I just put an all over beige face powder and then the banana on top, under the eye. I actually mailed it back on my lunch break anyway. Best part wad the free shipping! lol.
