I'd suggest making sure that your pencil is sharp every time you use it, the more blunt your pencil is, the harder it will be to get a nice, straight and even line.

Depends on what you're trying to do but tape usually helps make it less sloppy and I use Vaseline on a q tip to clean up what I don't want without smudging anything. Also have found gel eyeliner is personally one of the easiest eyeliners application wise for me. Good luck!

CVS and Sephora sell q-tips that have makeup remover in them. You snap one side and all the makeup remover drains down to the q-tip. This really helps me for precision application. I also use the tape method Kylie mentioned.

Just don't pull your lid- I see this on YT- your liner will be crooked. I tell beginners to make dashes on the lash line and then connect them- using a sharp pencil. And you can take an angle brush to go over it and push it into the lash line. Practice makes perfect. I agree- using a pointed Qtip with a little makeup remover can clean up any mistakes. I like to go over pencil with a powder shadow and a damp brush to set it. Have fun with it :)
