Hi guys! I'm new here so I hope I'm posting in the right place. I'd like to know what you all think of the look I did today.
Foundation: Kat Von D's lock it foundation, applied with a damp beauty blender.
Highlighter: YSL Touche Éclat under my eyes.
Highlighter: RCMA's highlight and contour palette on my forehead, down my nose, my Cupid's bow and chin.
Contour (from same pallette) down my cheeks and on the sides of my nose
I used It Cosmetics translucent powder to set all of that liquid/cream
For my eyebrows I used Tarte's pomade for brunettes.
On my eyelids I started with Mac's eyelid primer in painterly.
I chose Urban Decay's "Vice" palette. On my lids I used Alien, on my outer corners and through my crease I used Alchemy. I went over my outer corners with a bit of Vanity. I used Bobby Dazzle for my under brow highlighter and brought it down to my inner corners.
Unfortunately I had to skip eyeliner because at this point I found out I had a client on the way. So I added some Alchemy under my lower lids and finished with Dior mascara.
I brushed Nars' Orgasm (they named it!) on my cheeks and swept it up to my temples.
I used my favorite drugstore buy on my lips, it's Revlon 14 hr lipstick in Mauve. And that completes it!
Any ideas or constructive criticism?

Thank you ladies!! I was practicing for a client of mine. She's coming in to get dolled up for a hug formal event. Unfortunately she has hooded lids and she brought me pictures from Pinterest of the looks she likes and of course they're all heavily eye focused and not on hooded lids. I'm scrambling trying to figure out what I can do to make her happy. After some playing around its different techniques I think I've got it.
Again, thank you!

Alma I posted once in the Makeup Artist category and didn't get any responses. I'm using an iPhone so I'm just sorta hoping I get everything right. Thank you for the welcome!

How did you get on with the hooded lid lady? I have hooded lids myself. It took me forever to learn how to apply shadow effectively and to manage my expectations for what I can actually wear.

She's coming in on Sunday for a trial run on Sunday. I'll attach a pic of what she wants. Just imagine trying to do that on a hooded eye. Hopefully I can whip out some serious artistic skill!

Oh no wait!! That picture two comments above wasn't done by me! I was just showing yall the pic she brought in of what she wants done. I soooo didn't do that one.
I DID do the pic towards the top of this thread. I'm so sorry yall! I didn't mean to cause any confusion!

This might work though, because it has makeup all over the brow bone. With a hooded eye the main problem is not being able to see the lid but here you can just make a crease with all this color on the brow bone. The hard thing will be getting any color on the lid to pop.

Wayne Goss has a great tutorial on hooded smokey eye. Very similar to this actually.

I love Wayne Goss! I'm going to look that up. Thank you for the tip!

Wayne is the best. I'm a bit of a fangirl, I'm afraid. But his brushline led me to beautylish, so that's good.

Kathryn you'll be able to achieve that look on her there is a way to do it :-) I have hooded eyes and do that look often on others as well but if she actually does not have a lid you simply explain options with her like a Smokey eye which you could use the same color scheme into it.

I would post a pic of her but I wouldn't feel right about it. But yeah, there is no lid visible whatsoever. I've gotten a lot of great info on here (the members are so great!) so I'm feeling a lot more confident that I can work with what she wants. 😊
Also, Alma can you tell me what the forum called "makeup artist" is for? Like I mentioned, when I posted on there I didn't see any other posts and didn't get any responses. Just a newbie trying to figure out the site!

Sure that category is actually for pros in the beauty field and you could share or have a conversation about your field but sometimes that section gets over looked since so many just reply on the other categories. So you say she has no visible lid? I would go with a Smokey Eye, I actually came across the same thing a few weeks ago she had asked for a gradient look and what I asked her was if she mind that I do the look she requested and compare it to the look I thought would look great on her(Smokey eye) she said yes and in the end she preferred the Smokey eye :-) I also used the colors she picked for the gradient and transferred it to the Smokey.

That's an excellent idea. I'm going to call her in for a trial run so we can hopefully get on the same page. You all give some great advice.
