Hey guys so I have long thick hair. My scalp is very oily but my ends are dry.
I'm in need of a new shampoo and I would really like one that helps my oily scalp.
Let me know if you have any suggestions!! <3
Thanks in advance!

Head and shoulders is good for oily hair. Try something that says "volumizing" instead of "mosturizing." Also when washing your hair, focus the shampoo in your roots/top of your hair instead of the ends (this will help the top of your hair appear less oily and not dry out your ends) as for conditioner, DONT apply conditioner to your roots! I used to do this bc my hair gets tangled easily and thought if I just put on a bunch of conditioner it would help.. I was wrong! It made it look oily:(Instead, you should focus the conditioner into the ends of your hair so they are moisturized and prevent breakage. Also, try not to wash your hair everyday.. If you wash your hair everyday you're stripping the natural oils and your oils have to go on overdrive which produces more oils than what you want. If you slowly wash it less, youll see that your hair won't look as oily. You can even use dry shampoo between washes, I find batiste dry shampoo works really well on soaking up the extra oils on my hair. I have thin hair that gets oily easily so I would know! :) hope this helps.

I have the same problem. I actually make my own shampoo and conditioner. My shampoo is a baking soda mixture.

Thank you Chrisite, maybe I will try head and shoulders!
Alyssa I'm scared to use something other than shampoo. How does it work?

My hair is very identical with yours and the I Love Juicy shampoo from Lush has worked great for me. Just make sure you only use it on your roots or else it'll make the rest of your hair very dry. I also find rotating with a regular shampoo is really important so you don't over dry your hair and cause it to ramp up oil production, thus making it oiler.

I know.. I was, too! I use a 1:1 ratio of baking soda and water, so 1tbs of baking soda to 1cup of water. If you're super nervous switching that drastically, you can make a castile shampoo, which is a 1 part Castile soap to 3 parts water. In btwn washes (every 3 days) I use an aloe Vera and glycerine mixture leave in conditioner. I know it seems super weird and crazy but I've spent THOUSANDS of dollars the last 24 years buying shampoo, conditioner, mousse, you name it for my hair, and NOTHING has been this effective and/or cheap! Let me know if you have any more questions!
