I've gone almost a year without my straightener and blow dry instead and do coconut oil treatments every week.

That's mine too. I need to stop using heat :/

It's so hard not to use heat, I blow dry my hair everyday for like 5 mins instead of straightening because I need to fix awkward curls without damaging

I can go without heat for maybe a day or two.. because my hair will be straight if I brush it and then let it dry after a shower, but if I don't brush it, it'll dry and be wavey. So I guess I'd be fine, I just love the way my hair looks after I straighten it. Lol.

But a year? No way. I wouldn't be able to do that. Maybe a week, at the most.. that's kinda sad lol.

Heat is not that damaging if used moderately :) once a week is okay in my opinion.

I've tried reducing the amount of times I straightened, but my hair would still dry out and I'd have to cut off inches, it may just be my hair because it dries easily

What does the coconut oil treatment include?

Dec 7, 2014

Olivia G.

I just do coconut oil by itself before bed and wash it out the next morning.

Nice job cutting out some of the heat you use! I'm growing mine out too, and I've been completely heat-free going on 2 years!

That's awesome! I've been using coconut oil for about a week now (have used it twice) is your hair supposed to feel a certain way afterwards? Mine always just feels the same as before I started lol :(

I hope my hairs grown as much as yours has in a year, I cut mine 3 weeks ago lol!

It took me a few weeks of treatment to see and feel a noticeable difference, but then my hair got smoother and softer so it's worth the wait.

Cool, thanks so much for your help I was clueless, didn't know if the hype was for nothing or my hair just hated it but I'll finish this tub of it and hopefully I'll see a difference in a few moths :)

Yeah, I thought the same thing as you at first, another good hair mask is mayo, just put it on your ends for 20 minutes then wash out, might have to wash twice because it's very oily but it works great.
