I really want to start gauging my ears and I've been researching a lot and I found a kit but I wanted some advice about how to start and some tips, thanks:)

My one tip would to be to move up in size SLOWLY. Otherwise your lobes will get very sore and might even rip. I wish I could help more but I haven't personally stretched my ears, my cousin has. Good luck!! :)

Well definitely go slowly. I'd probably talk to a professional because there's a lot to be informed of so you don't ruin your ears. I did my own thing when I was young, went up to an inch and now I'm stuck with permanent holes. People on here can give you tips but I would recommend you take the time to speak to a piercer.

If it hurts to move up a size, you're not ready & risk tearing. I personally didn't wait long enough to size up on any of them, so it hurt & they would bleed. but I got addicted to the pain of sizing up early, as weird as that sounds lol. but my ears are fine.

Kat how long did it take to get to your size now?

I recommend stretching slowly, I stretched all at once & my ears tore so now I'm stuck with a stupid keloid on each ear. (It's scar tissue that builds up to heal the tear)

I have mine at 10mm currently (not sure what that is in metric) I personally believe one size a month is decent and is what I have done with mine. You could probably go faster, but it's better to be safe than sorry. For the love of god don't use plastic in your ears and don't leave your tapers in. Find a good surgical steel taper and tunnel kit - I paid $60 AUD for mine.

I was just joking, but it's pretty extreme just for eyes

Lol @ jasi, you're always complaining about other peoples preferences, just because you don't like them doesn't make them "ew".
As for your the question, taking your time is important especially when you're starting out; I had mine stretched to 22mm. Just don't skip sizes and wait for as long as you can, at least a month though between stretches. I agree with Kimberley, don't use the plastic tapers for stretching, they're not good for ears. Also you'll need to clean them for about a week after you stretch, I personally found using a saline solution on them following stretching would help for the next stretch lol, if that even makes sense :)

Thanks so much everyone I'm excited now haha

@Jasi - pretty extreme for eyes? So putting a full face of makeup on, getting your nails done, dying your hair, buying clothes for purposes other than warmth and all the other stuff we do to look "good" isn't? People will do what they want with their bodies to achieve their own beauty ideals. I like my stretched lobes because they make my small ears look proportional to the rest of my face. A small modification like that is nothing compared to the lengths women and men are willing to go to make themselves feel better about the body they are stuck with.

Okay I'm think I'm thinking about a differnt kind off gauging? Like doesn't that mean streatching your eyeballs?
Nov 13, 2014
Jasi O.
Or are you guys talking about ear stretchers?
Nov 13, 2014
Kimberley T.
Gouging - said like gow-jing - your eyes out is 100% different to stretching your ears. Most Americans call ear stretching "gauging" said like gay-jing
