I just bought some brushes and I want to know if its fine if I brush them first before using them, and how often should I wash them. I suffer from acne prone skin and I want to do everything possible not to break out.

I don't think it would be necessary to wash them before you use them.
I also think that you can invest in a daily brush cleanser (Sephora makes one) that you can spray on your brushes and wipe them down with after you use them. I don't recommend frequent deep cleaning, because you could ruin your brushes. so light cleaning after use should be fine, and then a deep clean every two to three weeks, depending upon how truly dirty your brushes are.

I also recommend checking with Jackie, she can give you more in depth information about brush care. Here's a link to her profile: http://www.beautylish.com/profile/ivjvvr.

I don't think its necessary to clean your brushes before using them. I wash my brushes at least once every week because I also have acne prone skin therefore I just want to be careful not causing anymore break outs.
