Well, the title MAY be a joke, but my hair is scaring me lately...
It's shedding in clumps. It's shedding SO MUCH more than I ever shed. I don't loose a lot of hair so this freaks me out. On top of that, it feels so so thin. I don't know what I should do. My hair used to be so pretty and long someone please help.

Well, alexis I'm honestly really healthy I don't feel comfortable jumping to conclusions by going to the doctors. And I honestly felt her being rude to me.

Jacqlyn. Okay I didn't ask this same exact question, and I'm just looking for any other answers or possibly someone who had a similar experience? So it's like you were being rude and totally disregarding my question. I'm sorry. That's just the vibe I was getting.
And alexis. Okay, I understand.

You asked for help and they gave you help. From what I read no one is being rude. We can't read your mind and tell you want to hear honey, you should go see your doctor.. although you say you're healthy, your doctor could say otherwise. There's obviously a reason that your hair is falling out in huge clumps.. a reason that no one on here can tell you, only your doctor. Good luck.

Nov 19, 2014
Stephanie M.

And nerissa, ummm I've been kinda bad. Lol I've been buying a lot of hair crap lately and using different stuff. Sulfate free shampoos?? I have been getting a lot of those...? I kind of have a hair product addiction lolol.

Lol I used to be the same way you don't know how many hair products I have just lying around. Um I think It would be best if you stop using so much product on your hair and always look at the ingredients :)

You might be putting too many products in your hair, try avoiding them & just use your daily shampoo & conditioner
Nov 19, 2014
Stephanie M.
Okay! Thanktou!
Stupid question but is "daily" shampoo and conditioner sulfate free? Does it matter? Because I don't know what to use now... When I think of "daily shampoo and conditioner" I think of head and shoulders lol I don't know why. 😂

I would go with a natural shampoo, well that's what I use... & I would say something that is sulfate free, paraben free, and no animal testing
I suggest something like the "Shea. Moistire line or aveeno

If your hair is having issues with shedding it could be due to vitamin deficiency and/or stress. Stress causes an endless amount of damage to your body and hair loss is a big one. Try biotin vitamins and QUALITY hair products. Quality meaning salon-grade. Redken, wella, Paul Mitchell, etc., also see a doctor. I had a client (I'm a hairdresser) with a similar problem and she turned out to have an iron deficiency

Hi Stephanie - My hair was also thinning terribly and although I felt completely healthy, I asked my dr about it. Turns out I have hypothyroidism - very common, very treatable, not a big deal at all. Ask your mom if she has it, as it is often hereditary. Basically it is that your thyroid is not making enough of a specific hormone and one of the symptoms is hair loss. I now take a tiny little pill daily (levothyroxine) and it made all the difference in the world. I know you don't want to go to the dr, but its worth checking out. It's an easy fix... and things will get worse if it's not treated. It affects your metabolism so fatigue and weight gain are down the road if this is indeed the problem. Good luck!

Jess- that sounds pretty scary :( but you're right. I need to go to see if I'm alright. :(
Did the levothyroxine make your any healthier/thicker??

The levo replaces the hormone your thyroid isn't making enough of, so when your thyroid levels are all back to normal, the excessive hair loss stops. Because you're not losing hair anymore, it thickens up as new hair grows in and replaces what was lost. The texture of your hair doesn't change, although sometimes thyroid deficiency can make your hair brittle, so if that's a problem caused by the hypothyroidism, it will Ferrell healthier. It takes time of course, you don't see any difference right away. Be patient! But hey, we don't even know if that's the problem so no need to worry yet. I'm not sure how old you are, and I am quite sure you're not over 30, so Wi-Fi knows for sure. but it's worth at least ruling out hypothyroidism. I always give my mom a hard time for passing it on to me since she has it too! :P Good luck honey, keep me posted. Oh, and so you know, they will take blood to run the test so prepare yourself for a little poke! Doesn't hurt, you'll be fine. :)
