If I pit a dark purple /violet dye over ginger hair what do you think would happen??

Is it natural ginger or dyed ginger? If it's natural you may have a few problems depending on how dark the purple is you're wanting. If it's not natural if suggest letting it fade as much as you can but there shouldn't really be a problem.

It would probably go brown. Think of veggie hair dye as mixing paint. If you start with a strong orange base, and mix in purple, it's likely to go brown. I'd suggest bleaching or at least fading as much as of the dye as possible :)

Yh I'm Gunna fade it loads first. my bleached ends are coming through now anyway.I'm waiting til about Christmas time anyway and I think use a low level bleach xx

You can also try a strong blue toner, it can help get rid of orange tones. I'm not 100% sure how it would turn out, but when my bright red hair faded to orange that's how I got rid of mine.

Most drug stores should have them. Just make sure to lift the cap, if the color in it is purple, but it back until you find a true blue one. Or you can make your own. Usually how I do it lol. By mixing a few drops (I do a 1:3 ratio) of blue veggie dye to conditioner or shampoo.
