The wound needs more depth. If it is a Chelsea Grin, the flesh would be torn (the injury is caused by cutting the corners of the mouth then rubbing salt in the wound so that the victim screams and tears it into the "smile" shape) and you would see darkness from the inside of the mouth. Try shading the center if the wound with some black. Add some jagged skin with the latex and really build up that wound texture.
If you want to take it further, involve the rest of the face. I don't know any human that would suffer this torturous injury without shedding a single tear-- get that mascara running! Smudge some blood on your cheeks like you were touching your face in agony; think about how you would really react if the injury was real.
Try looking up reference photos of real victims to see how this particular injury looks. The first step to achieving realism is understanding how it looks when it is real.
