Make up debate ⁉️❌⭕️❓😳 make up vs plastic surgery.

So many people disapprove of plastic surgery but it's not that different then wearing makeup. people claim that getting fake boobs, butts, ect is changing your appearance to make you look better. But isn't that the same with makeup? You just make yourself appear differently. I love makeup so I'm not ranting about people who wear makeup. Also if you have plastic surgery I don't question your decision. I'm just wondering...why do people disapprove of plastic surgery a lot more than makeup? Think about it what's your opinions.
After thinking about this I realized how hypocritical I was being. I'm always talking about who got plastic surgery,how I think Nikki minaji's but is fake 😂 ext. I always see girls complaining how Kylie Jenner had her lips done. But I got to thinking who cares!! I put tons of make up on my face all the time and it makes me happy 😄😄😄 it changes my apperience idc I think I look better. And shoot if I had kardashian money 💸💸💸 I'd get some stuff done too 🙋

I agree Erin who cares what you do to build your self esteem! Obviously surgery is the more drastic, also permanent option, but your right its the same idea as putting on makeup. If it ends up botched or whatever your the one that has to deal with it, nobody else, so it shouldn't matter to anyone but you.

When people are opposed to plastic surgery I always think "but would you let your kid get braces?" It's essentially a middle school rite of passage in the US so much so that we think of it as medical, but in fact it's totally for aesthetics only. I think our attitudes about plastic surgery are shaped far more by internalizing norms than we realize. In South Korea, the vast majority of people (not just women) have gotten eyelid surgery, and it's considered completely normal there but makes headlines as "shocking" here. I think people should do whatever they want to their bodies without having to explain it or justify why to anyone. Your standards of beauty are yours alone.

I think it's fine to get basic plastic surgery but I don't think it's good to get your whole entire face changed, like there are people out there who get surgery to look like justin bieber and a human Barbie and I think that is weird but regular plastic surgery is fine in my opinion

It just kills me "Kyle jenners lips are fake" who cares surgery,makeup whatever her lips look good don't they?!? Exactly who cares. I do not approve of plastic surgery with kids but that's another subject

You all make great points! Man, I really don't know. I think everything in moderation can be good. The only thing is that most people don't think about the high risks involved in surgery. It's hard to die from makeup, but surgery is just not worth the danger and money in my opinion, if the reason behind it is vanity. it's different when it's for medical problems but you get what I mean. But I don't judge who gets surgery, if it makes them happy more power to them. my reasons are for me, I wouldn't do it, that's all.

Kylie Jenner got lip injections and I'm super skeptical that Nickis ass is natural. I do not care in the slightest what they choose to do but like Maria said, own it. Don't let young girls get the impression that they should strive to look that way naturally when these celebrities are not natural themselves.

I think permanently altering the features that you are born with is what sets surgery apart from makeup. Even with a heavy full face (not special effects or anything, just a normal night out) the features are still "yours", people will recognize you no matter what. Sure you can use contouring to an extent to change how you look, but that only works to a degree.

Plastic surgery is often a drastic change in a person's features. While this might make the person happy, it can be very disconcerting for the person's friends and family. Suddenly the person you've known your while life looks completely different. It is jarring. Plus, there are cultural values attached to certain features, and changing them can be upsetting. If you "have your mother's nose" and you get a nose job, it might be construed that you are distancing yourself from your mother/your family.

I have no problem if someone wants to fork over gobs of money and make themselves look however they want to look. I'm just trying to explain why it is such a big deal at a societal level.

Also the braces example isn't the best metaphor, Jack. In most instances braces ARE medical, as severely crooked teeth can cause all kinds of joint and bone issues in the future if left uncorrected. I know I certainly didn't undergo six years of braces just for vanity; my teeth actually impinged my trigeminal nerve. Not to mention straightening teeth doesn't necessarily make a person completely unrecognizable in the same manner as plastic surgery. Braces are gradual and not a dramatic alteration of facial or other body structure. Surgery is much faster, and exponentially more impactful.

I don't disapprove of it but I think it's stupid. It's stupid because if the surgery aspect. EVERY surgery has risks; and even the small risks are very serious. As someone whose been through many surgeries for sound medical reasons I think it's stupid to go under the knife in the name of vanity. But hey! Whatever floats your boat I could care less! I do agree that people need to own it! If you're going to get something done just say you did it, especially celebs. We all know and can tell you had something done so WHY do you feel the need to hide it! Are you ashamed? If so why did you do it? Idk... I probably sound rude or ignorant and in not trying to be. It just boggles my mind that people are more than willing to go under the knife when there are many of us out there dreading the prospect of yet another surgery.
