Patricia just stop. It works as well as running yourself over with a big rig works to make you skinny.

Lice shampoo costs $3 and WON't KILL YOU. Raid costs $7 and WILL FUCKING KILL YOU. Easy math, no?

I sincerely hope you never have children, interact with children, or even animals for that matter.

Oh my god I truly hope you're trolling right now or you really got brain damage from having this done to you. Breathing in tiny amounts can lead to death, and spraying it on your hair can quickly turn into severe burns on your scalp. Some burns even burn through so many layers of flesh revealing bone after 30 seconds of exposure.

Do not do this. Do not recommend it. There is a reason it is called POISON because it's POISONOUS and is LETHAL in TINY doses. I hope nobody who read it tries that. They could seriously be injured with permanent damage, or even die.

Nope it works and as long as your careful and don't inhale it your fine. Like I said you don't put it all over your hair. Quick sprays only at the root. Of course if you did it yourself it would be messy and go into your eyes and all over your face.

PLEASE do NOT recommend using raid on a human. It contains extremely HARSH chemicals that even touching without gloves or breathing small amounts can literally lead to death if not treated right away. You are EXTREMELY lucky if you survived symptom free. I cannot even comprehend why your mother would think it could be a good idea to spray INDUSTRIAL STRENGTH bug KILLER spray on her child. If you reported that to social services you would have gotten taken away from her for child endangerment and pure stupidity. That is NOT even remotely okay. Even if it was just your hair. And do not be rude to Emily, her reaction is perfectly right and justified. Do you know how many people go to the ER from breathing that stuff in for 30 seconds? Or getting it on their hands and not being able to wash it off quick enough? And some of them die from it. From 30 seconds of exposure. DO NOT RECOMMEND DANGEROUS AND POISONOUS, LIFE THREATENING THINGS TO PEOPLE.

This is from the government poison alert site.

Industrial insecticides (raid), often found in household garages and greenhouses, contain many dangerous substances, including:

Carbamates
Organophosphates
Paradichlorobenzenes (mothballs)

*****Note: Serious poisoning can occur from just touching the organophosphate without gloves or without washing hands soon after exposure. Large amounts of the chemical soak through the skin unless you are protected. Serious poisoning can occur from breathing in small amounts without a mask. Life-threatening paralysis and death can occur very quickly.******

Home Care
Seek immediate medical help. Do NOT make a person throw up unless told to do so by poison control or a health care professional.

If the chemical is on the skin or in the eyes, flush with lots of water for at least 15 minutes.

If the person breathed in the poison, immediately move him or her to fresh air.

***************
What to Expect at the Emergency Room

The health care provider will measure and monitor your vital signs, including temperature, pulse, breathing rate, and blood pressure. Symptoms will be treated as appropriate. You may receive:

Activated charcoal
Breathing tube
Bronchoscopy -- camera down the throat to see burns in the airways and lungs
Endoscopy -- camera down the throat to see burns in the esophagus and the stomach
Fluids by IV
Medicine (antidote) to reverse the effect of the poison
Oxygen
Tube through the mouth into the stomach to empty the stomach (gastric lavage)
Surgical removal of burned skin (skin debridement)
Washing of the skin (irrigation) -- perhaps every few hours for several days
Outlook (Prognosis)
How well you do depends on the amount of poison swallowed and how quickly treatment is received. The faster you get medical help, the better the chance for recovery.

Swallowing such poisons can have severe effects on many parts of the body.

Alyx is right once again.

Also DO NOT EVER, EVER SPRAY RAID ON YOUR HAIR. Oh my fucking god what kind of stupid, stupid person willingly puts poison on their scalp? I mean come on! I'm sorry to be so blunt but that shit is dangerous and recommending that others do the same is downright irresponsible. Read the warnings on the can and EDUCATE yourself about insecticides before you apply that to your body. Jesus H. Christ I can't believe I even read that.

I'm a day care teacher and I wash my hair with tea tree oil shampoo to prevent it.

As a preventative, a brand called fairy tales makes a spray. I would use it on yourself and your siblings in the future. I work with kids and use it everyday.

Also shampoo hair a few times. Your hair won't stink or get damaged it comes right out and only spray your roots.

This is going to sound crazy BUT it works. Get a can of Raid and spray it into your hair in sections. Of course have someone do it for you. After spraying put a plastic bag and leave it on for 30 min to an hour. Trust me it works. Youll see the bugs come out instantly. My mom did this on me when I was a teenager and a bfriend gave them to me. It works!!

I do not believe natural remedies work, I have been a hairdresser for 12 years and I have heard them all, just get the treatment.

You really need to purchase a lice treatment from the drugstore, lice is getting more difficult to treat and is now considered a super bug. Wash all of your linens, everything! Stuffed animals too! Throw away brushes clips and combs. You almost need someone to do the treatment for you, you have to get all of the nits or eggs out. Every single nit has to be out or lice will not go away.

Follow Alyx's instructions too! Vacuum everything, your mattress, everything, if you drive a car, treat the headrest, think long and hard about everywhere your head touches. From everyone I know with kids, lice lately have been very hard to get rid of and you may need to treat your hair several times.
Oh my gosh, my oldest, almost 15 started to say "gee mom, you've been really lucky with none of us...". I stopped her there. I was like,"don't say it! Don't speak the words!" I've been so blessed, I'm terrified because I wouldn't be able to sleep I would be up all day and night killing lice that didn't exist because I would be so paranoid!

When I was 10 I got them out with the special shampoo and a powder to kill them, and I removed them with a comb like Bry says but I put a ton of gel in my hair first.

Switch out your pillow cases dnt use the same brush I agree with Jocelyn mayo is a home remedie that works(: I use to get them as a kid a lot but also coconut shampoo keeps them away (: lolz.

Aug 30, 2014

Alyx T.

Agreed with Alexis. The eggs are only gone by brushing them out with the special combs, or by killing them with the treatments that you leave on your head for an hour. You can kill the live bugs by vinegar and all that but you'd be doing it for months and months before finally getting rid of them.

Also, you need to freeze or boil your brushes and combs. Wash your sheets, pillow cases, pillows, clothing that you've worn, and any plush animals or decor you have. Make sure to vacuum your couches if they are material that isn't leather, and if they're leather disinfect them. If it's winter where you are (and cold, below freezing level) you can throw pillows and stuffed animals in a bag and leave them outside for 48 hours. It'll kill the bugs and freeze out the eggs.

Put olive oil through your hair and put a bag over it to suffocate them. I've gotten lice when I was younger from a kid at school it's nothing to be ashamed of
