How do you get your hair clean instead? Shampoo dries my hair out so bad, even with conditioner and a leave-in. I'm thinking of just using conditioner to de-grease my roots.
Input, suggestions, and tips would be great! Thanks

Yes you can use a cleansing conditioner for washing your hair and a mild shampoo for the roots.

All For Me has a really nice cleansing conditioner. It keeps your hair moisturized while cleaning out any buildup. I would research that and give it a try!

What makes a "cleansing conditioner" different from a normal one?

Well it's more clarifying and won't just nourish your hair but will clean it too.

So does it just not have as much cleansing agents as a shampoo, or something?

You can also use apple cider vinegar but I heard it is a bit harsh.

I've heard of that, but it smells like spoiled fruit. I'd gag, lol. Thanks, though :)

If you mix the Apple cider vinger with water it's not drying. I use pure honey. It works well make it look less oily.

How about a shampoo bar? I was reading the lush catalogue and they had a page in there for all natural shampoo bars. Shampoo bars are like solid shampoo in a bar.

The Godiva bar " Our vegan, 2-in-1 shampoo bar cleans and conditions your hair with moisturizing nut oils and shea butter. These butters and oils care for dry, processed locks and leave you with glossy, shiny, and softened tresses. Long used as a tonic for the hair"

The shampoo bars are basically just a shampoo. I thought you wanted to try conditioner-only technique :)

Try a cleansing conditioner, Herbal Essences makes one...or you could try a sulfate-free shampoo. That won't suck all the oils out of your hair and make it dry.

Wow, thank you everyone!
Erica, what do you use the honey for? Mixing with the vinegar?
Copper, that sounds appealing to me. I'll have to check that out :)
Marta - nope, just a shamp alternative :)
And finally, Bailey, I am currently using a sulfate free, and my hair is still dry :/
Howeverrrr, I did try just skipping the shampoo the other day in the shower and using only conditioner, and my hair loved it! It was more relaxed and wavy (usually pin straight), it was shiny and soft... The only thing is that my roots were still oily, but I attacked it with dry shampoo in the morning and it's lasted me a good 2-3 days already :)
