Hair is very curly, but very long so it pulls out a lot of the spring in them. What I like to do it use any kind of curl defining mouse and evenly distribute it throughout my hair, the flip my hair upside down and blow it out with a huge diffuser attachment while I'll scrunch my hair up in my other hand while its drying.
Also, when your done washing your hair, before the above, take a shammy microfiber cloth and squeeze the water out if your ends by scrunching them up with it. It really helps to give the curl definition without making your curls frizz out

If you've been applying heat to your hair all you can do is simply wait it out. Eventually a tighter curl pattern will come back. If that is not the case you could try what Ashley suggest but overall your natural curl pattern in your hair is set for life unless you experience a serious medical issue like going thru chemo and lose your hair (in those cases the hair could grow back with a totally different texture and/or pattern). You have beautiful hair regardless Kaitlyn. ;)

I like to twist my hair around my finger in sections while it's wet. That gives me my boingy curls.

Try the deva curl method- loads of information about it online! One of their beliefs is to stop using shampoo or at the very least use sulfate free shampoo. I confess I have never gotten completely off shampoo, but I have really thick hair and I need a lot of product to get my curls to hold instead of just frizzing out, so I need to shampoo out all the residue.

I don't know if it works as well for natural curls, but when I had a perm, I used pantene curl perfection shampoo and conditioner and organix moroccan curling perfection defining cream.
