I don't like using lip balm because I get allergic reactions. Does anyone know any substitutes for lip balm, like any oils or other stuff to prevent and help dry lips? Or anything DIY?

I'm allergic too and the derm told me that basically I can only use the Vaseline lip therapy stuff in original (no scent) and I guess I could use coconut oil, but I've tried it and I hate it lol.

I second the lanolin! That stuff works wonders on dry chapped lips. I like to apply it as an overnight lip treatment and I wake up to buttery soft lips.

Coconut oil. I was going to say the nipple cream too. I got it when I was breastfeeding & the doctor told me I could also use it on my lips. it worked well :) it'll be available in like baby aisles or the aisles with breastfeeding type things.

Yes the lanolin stuff I use for my lips is actually nipple cream, it honestly works better for me than any chapstick or lip balm ever has.

I like Vaseline, I use it all the time and haven't had any problems. Paw Paw ointment is also good.

You can use shortening mixed with another oil like almond or grape seed oil. just warm the shortening up When mixing in the lighter oil , mix the two well, and allow the mix to cool or set completely before you use it.

Coconut oil is great. For a tint of a natural looking color effect I add VERY little amount of lipstick to the coconut oil on my finger tips and apply.
