Like Jacqlyn said, it's best to buy a new mascara every 3 months. I honestly don't follow this rule :s I just wait til my mascara starts drying up & then buy a new one.

Yup 3 months. But you can toss it when it stops working properly. That's a good indicator it's time to let it go. When your wet formula mascara turns to dry formula, it's time to go

I'm with kyra, when I notice the texture of the mascara changing if it starts flaking that's usually when I know it's time for a new one.

Three months is the general rule, but they can last longer than that. However, throw it out immediately if: you have any sort of reaction to it, you have an infection, it starts to smell different, or the texture changes.

I'm pretty sure it's about 3-4 month because of hygienic reasons. The maracas I use just end up drying after about 3 month.
