I have done girls makeup from prom and dances and military ball for rotc and many other type of events. I feel as if I am well versed in contours and skin tones and just a little all over. I have a large collection that contain many different color foundations and concealers and just everything. But how would I go about becoming a makeup artist? Currently I have been rejected at the mac counter because of hours as well as sephora but I'm able to do it free lance. How does everyone advertise their services or get clients? I'm doing this late at night and this might not be the best explanation of my plans or views...But I would dearly appreciate some help.

And I don't feel like I could do it professionally lime for a high price...Even for free. But I'm thinking about advertising and getting my name out there. Perhaps going to a makeup school or finding a job somewhere.

As far as getting your name out there, business cards and websites are essential. Anything to help you market yourself. Look in your area to find well established web/graphic designers to help you with this process. The best are usually costly however it will be worth it in the long run. Remember, you get what you pay for.
Your second paragraph, "And I don't feel like I could do it professionally lime for a high price...Even for free," really threw me off. I'm not sure what you meant here.
I hope I was helpful.
