Hi everyone!
I need help... I have acne and usually my skin is dry. When I wear foundation I get flakes and ugh its just horrible.
I wash my face with simple before I go to bed because my dermatologist told me to use a normal cleanser. Then I use differin all over my face (it was prescribed to me).
In the morning I apply effaclar mat moisturizer (it was recommended by my dermatologist).
Lately my skin has been getting really oily and shiny during the day and I don't know why. Before it used to be dry from the differin even though I use a very small amount.
I need help because I need to find out why this is happening and how to stop it.
(Also, an appointment for my usual check up with my dermatologist is scheduled for July so I can't get his opinion before that)
Thank you I really need help on this xx

Is cetaphil for acne?

Try cerave hydrating cleanser and moisturizer they are perfect for dry flaky skin ,and differin is a retinoid so it will cause dry flaky skin at first ,and you probably producing more oil because everything your using is drying you have to have some hydrating things in your routine if you want your skin to be balanced ,

I have to agree with cerave. It moisturizes without feeling heavy and gross all day!

My doctor said the same thing! I am using the cetaphil cleanser and differin as well..you need a really good primer to control your oiliness.

I agree with Tracy. Moisture is very good and just as necessary for oily skin as it is for dry skin. And CeraVe is great. I would recommend also getting their AM moisturizer with SPF in it so you have some sun protection as well. I'm on a retinoid cream as well and they can make you photosensitive and more prone to burning so I always use a sunscreen or a moisturizer that has SPF.

Yes I'm actually a bit scared of trying it out because right now my acne is doing really good and I've heard so many mixed feedback on it. some people really like it but others don't and it actually made things worse for them :/
