They both look natural to me, but the second one the curls are way more loose. Find a wand with a bigger barrel on it.

Yup, they are simply called curls, but they have a wide diameter, so as Meckael said, you need a big curling barrel for this type of curl. If you need to tell your hairdresser, just show him/her a picture for reference :)

Balayage would be a great option for you! They're freehand "highlights", it looks kinda like ombré but they're more face-framing and look more natural than ombré. :)
