Would developer make my hair light enough to achieve this hair color?
I'm going to get it professionally done, I just want to know beforehand (:

Probably 30vol, don't let them put 40 on it, it'll just fry it :)

There is developer in every hair dye, adding won't make the colour work any more. To achieve this colour you'd need to bleach your hair, anytime you want to go from dark to light bleach is always involved and I don't at all recommend bleach!

Like Jacqlyn said just be sure to use moisturising hair masks often after bleaching to ensure it gets the moisture it needs. :) 💕

You'd need to bleach your hair, their is this brand that has hair color specifically for dark hair which can skip the bleaching step I believe it's a professional brand though. Before bleaching use protein treatments and moisturizing treatments. Bleach removes melanin and a bit of protein from the hair. Your hair is about 90% protein and 10% moisture.

@aurora pretty sure I asked before. But I ended up just getting it toned at the salon. Anyways! My cousin has ombré & her blonde is super orangey, almost pinkish in some parts. What would be a good purple shampoo brand for her?

Lee Stafford makes a good one, I use it on dry hair for about half an hour to remove the yellow tones. If it leaves a purple tint don't worry, it'll be gone in one wash.

:) thank you! Is it expensive? She's only 14 so I don't think her mom will wanna spend too much.

No it's not, it's the cheapest one :) over here it's about 9$ so I'm assuming it'll cost less there haha :)

So shaye, when I go to the salon, I'll ask them to use 30 developer and not bleach? And what kind of hair mask treatments?
May 13, 2014
Shaye M.
No, you'll definitely need them to bleach it to go this colour but there are different kinds of developers that go with bleach (stronger ones and weaker ones) to be sure they aren't going to fry your hair just ask them what percentage of peroxide they're using :)

Thank you shaye (: what damage would the bleach do to my hair?

If your going to a GOOD salon, don't tell them how to do anything. they are professionals and know best. If your hair is in good condition (not damaged) then the bleach should not.fry your hair. If you have virgin/natural hair then a highlift color can be used.

Also make sure the salon your going to has this color in stock. not every salon carries this type of color. If they don't ask them if they can get it in for you and then set up a future appointment when they get the color I.

You could use a 20 developer and it'll get pretty light you'll just have to leave it on a little longer. A 30 developer just processes faster but using a 20 can make it more even overall. My cousin had black hair and used 20 developer with bleach and it to a level 5, light brown
