Horizontal stripes doesn't mean you will look wide. As long as stripes are thin like what you're wearing. Big horizontal stripes make you wide. As for the bottoms, denim shorts is fine. You can also pair it with white shorts or pants for a Hampton-inspired look. Or pair it with white or neutral colored skirts tucked in for a Parisian look.
