Hey , I was wondering if its okay to put body lotions or creams on my face. I've actually done it twice to see what would happen and nothing did. I used it as a substitute when I run out of facial moisturizer. Could some of the ingredients be harmful? ( I have dry to normal skin) Thanks(=

Sometimes the body lotions make me break out so I switched to a plain drugstore facial lotion and its a lot better

I use Cetaphil lotion as a facial moisturizer, and I've never had any problems. Granted, I don't have sensitive or acne-prone skin, but the ingredients in Cetaphil are pretty bland so I think most people would be okay with it. I started using it after I was continually disappointed with facial moisturizers from Lush, Clinique, and a variety of drugstore brands. I think that as long as you aren't using something incredibly thick or full of fragrance, you would be okay to do it on occasion, or even daily like I do if you find the right one. I'm not a skin care expert nor do I have any schooling, so take what I saw with a grain of salt. Just sharing what's worked for me :)

If your skin is fine with it, go ahead. If I did that I'd break out. But if yours is good you should! I use different products for different things a lot.

I wouldn't and I'm an esthatician and so is my mom so I know a thing or two. Basically most drug store moisturizers have nasty ingredients anyway. So do high end ones. I only use all natural products (YonKa) and carrier oils (almond and coconut).
It's best not to saturate your skin in chemicals, no it may not break you out but it's not healthy.

I definitely would not!! There is one from lubriderm that is for sensitive skin, and no fragance or anything. That would be the only one i would ever put on my face if i were very desperate.

If you HAVE TO use it, make sure there is no "isopropyl myristate" ... Check regular face creams for it to. It is a shitty ingredient that can cause outbreaks and clogs pores. It is also found in products that kill lice and moutwash...

Use facial moisturizer for sure. The funny thing about faces is that if it gets too dry it will try to balance itself out and add more oil and cause break outs. So it is better to use one.

I agree with Ashlee, stay away from isopropyl myristate. They gave us this in our kits at the special effects program I went to and there is nothing I hate more. It's greasy and just awful. We used it to help take anything from grease paint to prosthetic makeup off and I just hated it. I don't think it's harmful but it was definitely pore clogging and did nothing good for me whatsoever.

It may not necessarily harm your face but its not helping it much. Body lotions are not formulated for your face which can be a little more delicate. With so many options its best to stick to a facial moisturizer that's gonna give your skin the benefita it needs.

honestly i would not. some body lotions or creans scented or not can cause your skin to get really oily and nasty. my sister used lotion as a facial moisteriser at one point and her skin was extremly oily. i would stick to a facial moiterizer made for your skin type and that will help keep ur skin moisterized without being oily

Body moisturizers can clog the pores on your face :P

100% of the time I use body lotion on my face, I never break out from it. Sometimes if my face is really dry or if I just want a soft face I'll put a really thin layer of vaseline all over my face for a few hours then wash my face as usual to get it off and moisturize as I normally would. It is an amazing trick you just have to try for yourself

If you ran out of face lotion than BODY LOTION is better than nothing at all.

I wouldn't want to put bad ingredients on my BODY and more than my FACE...

It depends on what kind of body lotion you are using. If it is natural then it is probably gonna be fine. But other wise I wouldnt risk it.

I used to do that but after a while, I found myself having to put 2 layers on cause my face would feel kinda dry. I guess it depends on the lotion.

They shouldn't be harmful, but might cause breakouts. I put a little bit of my sisters' lotion on my face and had a major breakout. Don't try it if you have really oily skin!😞

If it is a fragranced body lotion it can irritate your skin

I personally can't, it's too heavy and clogs up my pores really bad.

No it's not ok. Body lotions are meant for one thing. Your body. Not your face. I use pure coconut oil on my face. Works wonders!!!!
