Definitely go to a derm. He/she will be able to properly assess what is best for your skin.
I have used Tazorac though, and although it was drying it worked well ☺

I find it best to seek help from a derm by seeing what they recommend after an exam rather than going in determined to try a specific product.

Tazorac is a cream that helps with dark spots as well as acne. My dermatologist prescribed it to me and it's supposed to be used at night. It worked really well for me but be prepared for really dry skin after continued use. But a thick moisturizer fixed that issue for me. Make sure to wear sunscreen since your skin will be more sensitive. But I'm pretty sure your dermatologist will tell you what's best for you and your skin once you go

I have been using it for about a year now. Yes you do have to go to the Dermo to get a prescription for it. it dries your skin out like crazy and it will peel and flake for amount 2-3 months. You will also go through a purging period around that time where you will get large gross painfull pimples. Now my face looks flawless and clear but when ever I miss a night my face breaks out over night and its hard to get rid of them.

My dermatologist gave me tazorac but he told me to only use it on the acne spot because it is powerful and drying.
