So I've decided to make the under half of my hair blonde. anyone recommend any bleach like where to buy it? or what should I do to achieve the blonde? I dye my hair jet black, so I know it would be a little harder.

If you do the black at home, go to a salon, and be prepared for it to take forever. If I may give my input, go red instead if blonde, blonde is sooooooo hard to get to.

I'm lightening a tiny section of my black to blonde right now. They're using foils over several visits to ease into it. Black is always a tough lift.

But if you must, bleach several times when you get outta school and deep condition In between. Then use an ash blonde dye.

I agree, Sapphire, a reputable salon is a great start. They'll examine your hair's condition and let you know what the best course of action to take is.

I know you don't have much money for this, but honestly I'd look at yelp at salons. There are cheaper salons with fantastic people who know what they're doing and aren't just in it for the money. My friend got her entire head from dyed jet black to platinum blonde for 50$ at a super cheap chain salon, and it looks better than the 160$ bleaching I got a while ago from a high end salon.

If you do bleach it at home, I'd suggest doing more than a couple sessions. If you bleach it for 10 minutes, deep condition, wait a week, bleach again, repeat till your blonde you'll have it in much better condition then doing it in a night or two.

Everything Ben said. lifting black is tricky. I can't even tell you how many people I see in the salon who have tried to bleach their own hair and end up paying double. if your going to attempt thos at home, then please be careful. black is a hard color to remove and rarely does it bleach out even. so chances are your going to have orange hair. maybe try looking for a cosmetology school. its probably cheaper then a salon and a little safer then doing it your self.

Schools are an excellent option in my opinion. they're cheaper than a salon but they will still do an excellent job because they're trying to build their portfolios.

I always end up paying as much or more than I would trying to get it right as I would going to a salon & in fewer visits.
