How much water should I drink everyday? & How often should I exfoliate?

I drink 3-5 cups of tea a day. 1 in the morning, another after school at 3:45 pm and then the last one around 9:00 pm. Drink green tea to get your body through a cleanse and it will open pores. I also find it handy how if you're boiling water for your tea, you can use the steam over the boiler/pot to open the poors, and then quickly splash your face with cold water. SO refreshing 😍

Hi Taylor!

As for how much water you drink a day? This depends on your diet.
Granted, if you are consuming fruits rich in water you may not need to drink as much as you think. I definitely always drink water, and always spritz in a bit of lemon as well.

As for how often you should exfoliate? I personally disagree on any set time table.

How much you should exfoliate depends on several factors.

1. What kind of exfoliation are you doing?
Manual Exfoliation using beads or scrubs? Or chemicals exfoliation using an AHA or BHA?
2. How 'harsh' it is.
Are you using a gentle exfoliator like Oatmeal or Jojoba Beads? Or are you using an AHA or BHA?
3. How much can your skin tolerate it?

The more 'harsh' the exfoliation is the less often you would want to do it.
If you are using a gentle exfoliant, or an exfoliant with a low percentage your skin may be able to withstand doing it everyday and maybe even twice a day.
I exfoliate twice a day using a BHA. Although a BHA is meant for oily skin, my skin is able to tolerate it twice a day.
However, let's say you are using a re-texturizing chemical exfoliant like a harsher AHA 10% then once a week would be more than enough.
Products that are sold and meant for exfoliation usually have a recommended time on them. However, if you feel that you need to exfoliate less you may do so.

For my skins health I eat high in protein ( fish, grass-fed meats ), vegetables ( Kale is amazing for hormonal acne types ), fruits ( especially berries, lots and lots of berries ), nuts and omega fats. I drink about 6-8 cups of green tea a day. ( I also drink Lemongrass, and Oolong tea. ).
If you find it a bit tricky to incorporate tea for your skin care, I recommend doing a Green Tea Rinse or a Homemade Green Tea Toner.

The best solution to a clean, happy skin is to provide it with loads of antioxidants, which makes antioxidant serums great! Sun screen protection ( Look at the inside of your arm, and then look at the outside which is exposed to the sun. See the difference? ), and using products free of irritants and fragrances. A healthy skin moisture barrier is essential. Drying out the skin, along with tingling, irritation, cooling sensations, and alcohol based products or astringents are in fact a sign that your skin will and does not like whatever product is on it. Keep in mind you do not have to SEE or FEEL irritation.

Skin care is about being GENTLE. Beauty is not always about pain. You will see much more results from being gentle and kind to your skin then being harsh and using irritating products.

I have finally found a regimen for me.

Once you find something that's works for you don't keep switching around.

Wash: Dudu Osun Black Soap

scrub: Garnier blackhead scrub

Toner: witch hazel

Moisturizer: Shea moisture black soap or coconut hibiscus moisturizer (both are shea butter based) the black soap one is thicker and better for winter. The coconut one is better for spring and summer it's better for warmer weather it still extremely moisturizing but not as thick.

I drink a lot of water and take skin vitamins.

Kitty just about nailed it. I know that for me personally what I shove in my mouth determines the outcome on my exterior. So sugar, dairy, meats treated with hormones are no go's for me. Veggies and fruits sit high on my list of go to's when it comes to every meal I consume. When I splurge just too much I notice the effects on my skin immeditely (my guilty pleasures...Merlot and chocolate).
