I don't know what it is, but my beauty blender never seems to blend out my makeup. It makes me look like I have no foundation on. Any tips?

I make sure mine is damp and I stipple with it

Yes it must be damp or it just absorbs the foundation.

I have a complex sponge from real techniques (BB dupe) and for a while, I thought it sucked. I would dampen it n It still wouldn't work for me. I gave it another try, but I decided to let it sit in water for longer until it grew a lot. After ringing it out, it worked a lot better.

It also could be your foundation! I forgot to mention that with my Covergirl 3 in 1 foundation, it works great. But with my Mary Kay foundation, it made the coverage really sheer and splotchy.

You have to have it damp, make sure you get out all the excess water and stipple in your foundation

I have certain foundations where finger application simply works best. Laura Mercier, for example, encourages finger application. Others, are best with a brush or sponge. You should try finger application and if you want a more airbrushed look then try a great blending brush, like UD's Optical Blur.

I use my tru match foundation. Is that a bad foundation for the beauty blender?

For me, personally, thinner foundations do better with my fingers while thicker ones work great with my blender. I suspect the warmth of my fingers may have some effect. With MUFE HD, I use my blender, but with my Maybelline Dream Mousse, I have to use fingers.
What is the result when you use the blender? Is it spotty? Patchy? Also are using a compatible primer? Is your skin running oily or dry?

I dampen mine with warm water before using it. I think it makes a difference personally
