False Advertising? Shellac Vs. Other Gel Based Polish.

Hi everyone. I've got a question. Do you feel that it's false advertising to advertise shellac at a nail salon yet use other gel based products instead of shellac? It's probably a silly question, but it annoys me! I think it shouldn't be advertised as shellac if it is another brand/product.

I personally don't think it's false advertising.
some girls say their Shellac polish chipped right away, but it lasted weeks & weeks for me without chipping or cracking.

I think it mostly depends on how good the girl is that's doing your nails.

Oh woops >.< totally misread the question.. not sure how. lol.

if they say they are absolutely using Shellac, but are using a lower brand gel polish, I would call it false advertising.

I think everyone just refers to it as "Shellac" as they were the first brand to offer the concept. There are a ton of other brands now and I'm not sure what you would technically call it because they aren't gel nails. I've had just as good luck with other brands and they've even lasted longer.

The salons I've been to told me to my face that it is shellac, while the bottle of "gelish" polish is clearly visible and being used. if you are advertising a certain brand or promise that brand and use something different, I kinda feel like its a slap in the face and an insult to my intelligence.. especially if the other brand is literally right under your nose. sorry for the vent lol.
