You can prevent them but I think the only way you can get rid of them is by getting a haircut.

Can't get rid of them or expect to never get them. Trim them at home, just snip off a split end as you come across it, and use a hair mask to slow any hair from breaking.

Something's I have tried
- get a very little bit trimmed off and use heat protect on your hair
-wash hair every other day
- I put leave in conditioner and a frizz control in after every wash
- I also put in a olive oil mask once or twice a month depending on my hair at the time!

I have split ends so my friends all said to get a hair cut!! But that's ok because my tips are stiff anyway.

You could look in a local drugstore for a split end sealant.. It doesn't permanently heal split ends but you can use it on a special event if you want the extra length instead of cutting it

The products I was talking about are
Leave in conditioner- suave keratin infusion or neutrogena triple moisture.
Frizz control - loreal sleek it frizz control or frizz ease
& for the masque - Regis olive oil hair masque for healthy hair.
... When my hair is really dry I will sometime use an oil spray or one that comes in an aerisol can

Nothing can "heal" your split ends. what you have to do is get them cut. if you keep waiting then they'll split farther up & you'll have to cut more hair off.

Like @Lili said, nothing is going to heal them, the long you wait to cut them the more the will split up. Use. Hair mask after you cut them off.
