Have you tried water marbling? It's not new, but it is a way to be creative and come up with fun color combos. Every time I do water marbling I get a ton of people asking how I got my nails that way, and it looks good on any nail length.

i had a bit of fun the other day with a 'space theme'. i painted my nails with opi's 'yoga to get this blue', then used a toothbrush to spray on some silver. then i loaded my ring finger nails with silver star decals.good fun.best put vaseline or oil around the nail though as it gets pretty messy!

Use sharpie over base coat, let sit for a minute, clear coat over top, and voila! The Sharpie design stays and u can do anything from religious symbols, music notes, dots, hearts, checkerboard, letters, words, etc. Endless possibilities! (And it's really simple)
