Curling with long layers?

Whenever I try to curl my hair pieces come out because some are shorter and some are longer obviously. I was just wondering if their was a technique to curl your hair with layers.

I seperate my hair into 2 layers and curl them separately. It helps minimise that.

I actually love how lauerd hair looks with curls :) it gives it a more bouncy look
