What is the best way to apply lipstick to last all day?

Definitely a light translucent powder works the best. Some people leave the tissue over the lips when blotting, then use a generous amount of powder OVER the tissue to help mattify & that helps to really set the lipstick without over powdering & ruining the look.

Nice! What if I want to add a dab of lipgloss? Would I still have to add powder?

Try adding it after you blot & powder. It's pretty much a known that lipgloss shortens the wear of a lipstick, but hopefully after blotting & powdering, you should still get longer wear time =]

I use MAC's lip prep+prime then I fill in my lip with the same or similar color lip liner and last the lipstick. It stays on most the day

some makeup lines have lip primers or, you can dab on a solid concealer before applying lipstick
