Sephora or Ulta?

Lisa, they're the same way when I go in. The last time I was in the location that has the worst service ever, that started this whole thing, I had bought at least $50 worth of stuff and the two girls working couldn't even greet or attempt to assist me when my boyfriend and I were the only people in the whole store. Even while they were ringing me up the only words they spoke to me was to ask for my Ulta card and tell me my total. They were too busy talking about something involving their shifts at work that definitely could have waited until I left. It makes me beyond angry that people with poor customer service skills get jobs in customer service. I don't expect anyone to cater to my every need but some basic politeness would suffice. I have never had an experience like that at Sephora. Everyone there is pleasant, kind and helpful. I wonder if it's a coincidence why every Ulta I go into always is deserted but each time I go to Sephora its packed, even during the middle of the work week lol.

I really love both, I've had nothing but great experiences at both Sephora and Ulta. I would say I favor Ulta in my area though, we only have a Sephora inside JC Penny where I live right now, so Ulta carries WAY more stuff. I love the staff at both my local Ulta and Sephora.

As far as the store itself: Ulta. I like they they mix high and low end products and carry extensive hair and nail things too. Basically you can go in with $10 or $1000, but you're bound to leave with something you like. Ulta usually always has a sale or coupon going on and they usually let you combine them which is great. I'm typically on a budget, which is mainly why Ulta is my fave. I've never tried the salon inside, but I'd like to.
I love Sephora, but I don't go there just to browse. I've never gone into Sephora "just because" and left with a purchase. If I'm going to Sephora, it's because I need something specific.
Sephora does have a much better rewards program than Ulta, and they are very lax and cool about giving out samples. I've never asked for a sample at Ulta before.
I do agree with the above comments about the staff. It seems everytime I go into Ulta, I am never greeted. It drives me nuts. How can you not greet a customer?!?
I was just there this past Monday. Wasn't greeted, wasn't asked if I needed help. Wasn't assisted or talked to by any associates even though I walked past them multiple times. It was pretty ridiculous.
Sephora I am always greeted, talked to, complimented (most of the time it seems sincere), etc.
Even though Sephora has better customer service and perks, it's Ulta's variety and low prices that keep me going back.
