Most piercers will make you wear a stud to begin with because when you wear only a ring whilst it's healing it doesn't heal the way it would with a stud in, it heals to fit the ring therefore making it harder to wear both. You're not supposed to touch it at all while it's healing anyway.

I say stud..and don't get a hoop when you first get it pierced because you should NOT rotate it while it is healing and it won't heal faster.
