Depends on what look you're going for. I use a brown matte bronzer (NARS Laguna) to contour my face when using blush.. I have a small dome shaped face brush to do this ( you can use many brushes but I like the size of the brush so I can focus on reaching the perfect shade of darkness) .. But if I'm wanting a bronzed look I use a highlighting semi shimmer bronzer (LORAC TANtilizer) over a pink cheek, bridge of nose, and a small amount on my forehead.. I use a larger kabuki-esque bronzer brush from Sephora, but ecotools makes a brush very similar in density and circumference... I just prefer a more natural feeling haired brush for any powder application)
I wouldn't suggest using it all over your face though, nobody has an evenly tanned face. It doesn't look natural, ya know?

do the "3" shape, start on the sides on your forehead down to under your cheek bones & down to your jaw line, in light strokes so your not putting too much. Once you see that healthy bronze glow in your skin is when to stop.
