Powder?stick?creme?brand?? For contouring?

Don't use bronzer. That's rule #1. You're trying to create shadows, which are not orange or shimmery, but instead are almost greyish in tone. Bronzers are often both of those things, as well as sheer, which means that you'll have to apply more than you should in order to get coloring with bronzer, which gives your face that dull/dirty/muddy look. I'd recommend the Sleek Contour Kit, or the Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting powder.

Happy to help :)

Hoola by benefit is really good! It has greyish undertones and is matte brown instead of orange and shimmery like Hannah is saying 😊

Hoola still isn't ideal, actually, because its still sheer so you have to use a lot of product, as opposed to something more opaque where you can use less and thereby avoid the muddy face.

Sleek has a great contouring palette along with Make Up For Ever.

You can get a sculpting Kit at sephora by make up for ever.Grey tone for shadowing illusion is the key.Bronzer is to orange, brown and No matter if it's shimmery or matte it still isn't the right finish for sculpting it will always come out dark and orange hence why bronze is for more of a tanning effect for all over.Hoola it's self is matte and strong in color like a bronzer should be so that is why it's a No product as well in no way is it a sheer product its a bronzer that packs a punch like the rest. Here's a quick tip I like to share when shopping be aware that some brands are trying to sell bronzers as sculpting kits or contour kits with blush, Now if it looks like bronze then its bronze because for a true sculpting powder should have grey tones now for example those sleek sculpting kits that are mentioned I personally have not tried but just by my experience being an Mua and using sculpting kits those sleek look like bronzers being passed as kits and I can honestly say that looking at them that I think just maybe one out of those 3 is maybe close enough to be the grey tone for sculpting. Now that being said I would like to ask Hannah , how would you compare The Kevyan Aucoin sculpting Kit to the sleek sculpting Kit?

Jan 4, 2014

Hannah K.

Honestly Alma, I don't have a comparison, I'm going off of other peoples' reviews. I've heard great things about both of them, but I don't actually contour. I'm definitely unqualified to be making product suggestions, but I do read a lot about the theory and techniques of makeup, therefore I know that bronzer isn't for contouring, why that is, etc.

Oh I see,I just assume you had tried both to compare and that is why you suggested it.I'm not keen on that sleek just by looking at it and since contour has been the rave for most and flying off the shelves, and making money for companies its always smart to really look at the item and compare the tones because they're selling to most that don't understand makeup or really get the concept and some brands are taking that slapping contour and sculpting label on it to make a buck since like I mention most are not aware of products or have true knowledge to what it should look like.its sad but true.Thank you for answering my question  :-)

Happy to, and thank you for helping me learn so much! Like I said, I've really just heard everyone rave, but I do know that Jackie suggested the Kevyn Aucoin sculpting palette, and I trust her opinion.

Sounds good Hannah, I'm always opened to help  :-)

Alma, have you seen the new Anastasia contour kit? To me, it looks bronzy. I was thinking of getting it when I heard about it but then I saw the colors and they look too bronzed. What do you think?

Alma M.

Sara that Kit seems to be the all around contour Kit which means the close color for sculpting seems to be the middle one called fawn from what I could see from the picture. It looks like she had the set provide sculpting, bronzer and blush to help finish the all around look as well as the highlighting to suit each skin tone. You would be set with this Kit because usually those are the steps for application.I must go look at it in person but she seems to be smart with this palette to include the needs for contouring. :-)

Thanks! I might try it and then I'll let ya know! 😊
