Heyy, for NYE tonight I'm going to make big curls. My hair is quite greasy, should I wash it or not? I've heard if your hair is a bit greasy the curls last longer, is this true?

Supposedly curls work best on second day hair (which I've found to be true), try using some dry shampoo for your roots, it'll soak up the oil. And don't forget to use a great protectant :)

They think they hold longer if you don't wash it, but if you don't feel good with not washing it you can use dry shampoo, it gets the same effect and even more structure. or use a structure spray (sea salt or a matte spray)

Yes, generally clean hair doesn't have a lot of hold because the curls don't have anything to 'grip' to, so to speak.
Unless your hair looks totally gross (which I'm sure it doesn't, otherwise you probably wouldn't be asking this question), it's fine if you skip the washing! If you have any dry shampoo or baby powder, it will soak up some of the oil. Teasing your hair at the roots for some volume will also help to refresh it.

I know what you mean like it's easier to curl your hair if it's greasy but it also looks shinier and healthier if it was just washed. What I do is once I have washed and towel dried it a little, I tip my head upside down and blow dry my hair, while scrunching. I do this to get volume and a wavy type look, then I curl my hair, apply hair spray after each layer.. then once its all done I'll use my fingers to comb mousse or spray a finishing touch of hairspray through it,not too much though, (don't want it going hard) with my head upside down again. Oh! And don't brush your hair after washing it either for this style, just comb it through with your fingers. When hair is wet, it's weakest and it will break. Also if you brush it anyway if you want it curly then you are weighing your hair into straight mode. Hope this helped in some way 😊

Wash it for sure and then add something to it for shine and texture.. How about morracean oil, not on your roots tho!

I would say either works! But if you decide to wash, Only use shampoo because conditioner will weigh your hair down and make it slippery, thus making hair hard to curl, also making the curs last a short amount of time. If you choose to keep it the way it is, try massaging baby powder in the roots of your hair, it acts as dry shampoo. Hope I helped c:
