I'm sick of this!

I've seriously just about had it.

For my job, I work in the kitchen of a nursing home. I'm on my feet all day, and sometimes my face gets a little sweaty. I wear a light amount of foundation every day, and no matter how I've put it on (sponge, fingers, brush), it still cakes up halfway though the day and comes off. I've used Revlon ColorStay for combo/oily skin (I bought that on accident, my skin is normal to kinda dry), ColorStay whipped, and I just recently purchased Nearly Naked. I've also tried CoverGirl 3-in-1 before, which caked in the worst way and also made my face orange. ALL of these foundations have caked up on my face even though I exfoliate 3 times a week, moisturize, and use a primer. I even lightly set the foundation with a translucent powder in my T-zone (I use Revlon PhotoReady).

My question is, is there any, ANY foundation out there that will work for me? My Revlon shade is 110 Ivory. My skin is a little, tidbit oily in my T-zone, other than that it's pretty much normal. I'm looking for a light/medium coverage that I can build. I would prefer a drugstore brand, but if there's some miracle prestige brand out there that could possibly work, by all means suggest it. Your guys' help is much, much appreciated.

You should probably stay away from drugstore foundations.

That's what I'm figuring. Though it is more friendly on my budget, I'm sick of buying crap. Maybelline's is crap, as is CoverGirl's, Rimmel London's, Almay's, and I really don't want to use L'Oreal. I'm thinking of maybe trying Urban Decay or going to Macy's and trying Estee Lauder's DoubleWear. The price would probably be more justified because all my other makeup products are drugstore brands and they work well. Might as well splurge on one thing.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation is amazing! It sounds like it would fit your needs perfectly. It's a full coverage foundation and it last me all day at work. It is a little pricey, $38. But it's so worth every penny. You can find it at Ulta and Sephora. Hope this helps :) also, have you tried a setting spray?

I haven't tried a setting spray yet...it's always something I think about but forget to pick up when I'm at Ulta. I may try that while I'm on this bottle of Revlon Nearly Naked before I go splurge away. I was going to go for a small bottle of UD All-Nighter.

Go ahead and try the setting spray & see if that helps first. NYX has a great one, they have a matte finish and a dewy finish version. They're only $10, if you wanted to give that one a try :)

Yea you should definitely try a setting spray and are you using a primer before you apply foundation?

Bailey you mentioned that you work in the kitchen. Do you use hot or warm water? or are you cooking? Steam always melts makeup. even if it is not very noticeable. My makeup always melts when I wash dishes with warm or hot water or when I'm cooking for a while. Even the temperature of the kitchen. I suggest a BB cream like garnier oily/ combo skin and bring with you some oil absorbing sheets for touch up

We use a lot of hot water. I get a lot of steam contact from the hot tables where the food sits and from the dishwasher (but that's at the end of the night and I don't care at that point). But it's not even at work when this happens, it's all the time. And yes, @Vickie, I use primer - I switch between NYX Pore Filler and Smashbox.

What Jacqueline said. ;)

I worked in a coffee shop where I had 10 hour days on my feet, heavy lifting, blasts of steam to the face several times an hour, and constant sweating from the heat. I used Revlon Colorstay Whipped and E.L.F. Mist & Set spray (no primer) and it worked pretty well to keep it in place. I have super dry skin, and the setting spray definitely kept it from caking on dry spots after melting all day.

I'd definitely try a primer (hourglass is my favorite) and a setting spray - either the model in a bottle one or one from Urban Decay is what I would go for. I just got a sample of UD's De-Slick one and from reading the description it seems like it could help. You may also need a better foundation. I personally can't use any drugstore foundations. My skin is too compromised and anything low end has never ever worked for me. I definitely don't have as many problems with the high end ones I've tried, even the ones I haven't really loved. Which, unfortunately one that I didn't like was the Tarte one mentioned above. It may work for you but it didn't wow me and I'd suggest getting a sample first. I found it to be a little too drying even though I have oily skin, and the coverage still didn't strike me as full. I feel like the Urban Decay naked skin has much fuller coverage even though it is meant to be lighter. I would try that one as well. I have oily skin and it still works well. It has a very light consistency too.

I used Mary Kay foundation and it worked for me. the foundation dries to powder, that helped my face stopped being so oily.

Could the problem also be that your moisturiser is not enough and the liquid part of your foundation is being sucked into the skin leaving behind the drier, cakey pigment? Perhaps try a more nourishing (even if it's oil free) moisturiser.

Revlon colorstay has one for dry skin. I think it's the one with the clear cap.

The foundations that everyone is recommending are not for Dry skin. I would suggest concealing your blemishes and try a BB cream powder your tzone and apply a setting spray like Jacqueline suggested.

Abby, I suggest you do some research about animal testing. Particularly about what it is actually used for, and how it works. Also, if I am not mistaken MAC tests on animals too. Animal testing is not the demon that everyone tries to make it into.
