I love dreadlocks :)
I would get them but here are reasons I don't get them.
1. dreadlocks don't come out.
2. I don't want to wreck my hair
3. I might be made fun of at school and laughed out and called weird. Stuff like that.

But what do you think?
Also would they look good on me?

Try them! If you end up not liking them then you'll know. You won't know if you like them on you and you may be suprised by how nicely people actually react to things like that!

Dreads do come out: it takes a ton of conditioner , and combing. Two, they won't wreck your hair IF you don't use the neglect method. And three, who gives a rats arse what other people think? As long as you like it who cares. I've been seriously considering these!

I personally would never EVER do it. Not because I don't like it, just because I wouldn't be able to pull them off. I think you'd look good with them! If you like it, I say go for it! Who cares what others think!

I would just like to tell you, Shannon, to do some serious research! Watch dreading videos, and how to comb them out! Everyone says they ruin your hair but they don't actually know if they do or not! Do what you want to do! I personally LOVE dreads! I have really long hair, "butt length" and I have been seriously considering them, like I said before! When you dread your hair, it gets shorter, because of the process. They are cleaned just like you clean hair, and you DONT use wax to dread because it traps dirt, and makes them dirty! Do some research and I bet you will find out that they aren't how you thought they were! ❤️

Thank you guys :)
Isabel, I will definitely do some research on them :)
I've always thought they would never come out and that it wrecks the care because to make them you keep back combing your hair. I'll definitely look it up :)
If I can get dreadlocks without wrecking my hair and can brush them out, I will definitely try them :)

I had a friend in high school who was absolutely beautiful and she had Super long blonde hair with dark brown lowlights. I remember she wanted to get dreads and her mom told her there was no way on God's green earth that was going to fly. So she uses to style her hair in temporary "dreads". I'm not sure what she used but she would use a lot of product and section her hair in tiny random sections and twist it really tight. In the end it looked very similar to dreads but she could just wash it out at the end of the day. Idk if I am explaining it right, but it looked really hot on her...

That is what faux dreads are. There are videos on YouTube.

Isabel knows her stuff. I commented on her post not that long ago when she mentioned she might get them, she has done a great deal of research. Also I don't know how my aunt did it (BTW shes a hairdresser) she got faux ones and none of her real hair showed. She had them for about a year.

I have almost no opinion on dreads, I think they look good if you do them right but they're not totally my thing... If it's something you really want to consider then go for it! ;)

I love dreads as you know =) I say yay! But I would go with synthetic dreads since they won't damage your own hair and can be removed fairly easily. They are braided or wrapped into your hair. Though they take a lot of man hours to make, they don't take very long to install. It only took me one sitting to remove mine and all I had to do was undo or cut tiny clear rubber bands that held them in place.

Natalie, I remember that you helped me find out about synthetic dreads :)
I don't have the money to get any of that stuff though. If I did I would definitely go with synthetic dread.
I did find something that looks like dreads but it only last until I take a shower :)
All I need is a straightener, hairspray and a comb. I'm probably going to try it :)

Ooh yeah definitely try a dread influenced/ temporary dread style! I think that's probably the best of both worlds right now =)

just a warning if you do go for actual dreads, they require a lot of hair, so your hair will probably appear a lot shorter than it is down and straight/natural. my dreads shrunk in length to about 1/2-2/3 the length of the original hair I started with. just letting you know because all of the styles that have been posted in this thread are for super long ones

You could always get dreadlock extensions. But I would say yay. If you get them post a picture!
