You can save money by creating your own tinted moisturizer.

I just put a small drop of my liquid foundation and a dime-sized amount of my daily moisturizer in the palm of my hand. I mix the two and voila!! I have my own tinted moisturizer! No new products required.

The only probably with this is that mixing without a mixing medium is going to make your foundation oxidize faster!! :)

Tinted moisturizer literally only hydrates and offers the smallest amount of coverage.
I'm a huge fan of diluting my foundation, and In my opinion it provides better coverage then a tinted moisturizer or even a BB cream and still hydrates the skin, especially if you use a thick and rich cream.

I tried doing that but for some reason the mixture between my foundation and moisturizer didnt mesh good, it felt like my skin was on fire lol.

You don't need a mixing medium. But if one is oil based and the other isn't you might encounter issues once its applied on the skin. Second, don't use a moisturizer with active ingredients because depending on what's in the foundation it could cancel out the benefits of the moisturizer. Some ingredients just don't play well together when mixing like this. But it doesn't hurt to try it out.
