Honestly, the most important part of applying foundation is washing your face. I suggest trying a new face wash :)

Thank you and I have one of those brushes and will have to give it a try I've never used one before cause I heard people don't like them that much and is the liquid better than the whipped or can I still use my whipped?

I use clean and clear black head scrubbing wash I don't know if that's the brand I may have gotten it wrong but I don't know if it's any good I'm looking into buying cetaphil face cleanser and lotion.

Whipped usually tends to cake a little more than liquid, maybe try doing little layers of thin until you get to the coverage you want, and finding a good setting powder and setting spray always helps!

I've found that if you wait a while after applying your foundation (around 15-20 minutes) before setting it with powder, you won't get as much of a 'cakey' look. This allows the foundation to kind of meld with your skin so all your makeup isn't just sitting on top of your face like a mask. I also love using Benefit's Porefessional before applying foundation, you might want to try that. :)

I exfoliate 2-3 times/week, moisturize, use smashbox hydrating primer (amazing), then lancome teint miracle which I love. Also setting mists are really nice.

I find that primers never seem to help fill in my pores even if they claim to. Try checking out UD pore filling face primer, it works pretty well. Also my secret to hiding pores is that I buff the foundation is circular motions over my pores and it covers my pores instantly. I've never been able to cover my pores by using a brush, sponge, etc. but the buffing motion has always worked for me.

Maybe you should try a liquid or powder foundation because whipped fills and cakes more frequently.

How you apply your foundation is defiantly an important factor. I'd try and switch up your foundation brush maybe change to a stippling brush? Or try a new exfoliator?

Build your coverage instead of just putting on a very thick layer. That helps your skin breath so it makes it less obvious of your pores. Also, use a pore-filling primer like benefit's porefessional or pixi has a good one called flawless & poreless. Another factor is that you might be using the wrong kind of foundation in terms of your skincare needs. Oily skin tends to have bigger pores and using a foundation that "hydrates" can make you more oily throughout the day, causing your pores to expand and your foundation settles into your pores, causing cakiness.

Also, try using a charcoal mask two times a week all over the face and once more throughout the week over your problematic area. Charcoal masks, like the one from origins, tightens your pores while drawing out the debris filling it that's causing it to expand.
