For a formal dance, I'm thinking of wearing a red dress and I'm just wondering if it would clash with my hair (which is purple)

It should be okay, my friend has pink hair and she wears red all the time:) they are clashing colours, but you should be okay:) I'd make sure your hair is up if possible to reduce any clashing.

Basically what Hannah said- pin it up in a bun or something like that, it will prevent any major clashing that happens by the two colors laying on each other.
I thought maybe you bought a red and purple dress- all of that just reminds me of the old lady red hat society :p
